Document the history of your work, one milestone at a time.

Provenia lets you register the files that mark the evolution of a creation or document something important you want to preserve, without requiring you to store those files with Provenia. Each record can be linked to the one before it, and at the end the full history is assembled into a chronological Dossier with verifiable evidence of when each record was created and which file it corresponds to.

The final result does not tell the whole story

Ideas, drafts, tests, decisions, and changes in direction all come before the current version. When these materials are scattered across folders, devices, and messages, the context that explains the work can disappear.

Keeping the final file matters. Preserving the milestones that led to it reveals a much fuller history. Provenia organizes that path as verifiable documentary evidence without turning technology into a promise about authorship or legal outcomes.

The same approach can preserve other important digital evidence, including emails, documents, pages, communications, and materials whose integrity and chronology may matter later.

How it works

Use a Provenia project to document the evolution of a creation or preserve important digital materials over time. Each record marks a specific moment and can be linked to the previous one, building a verifiable documentary history.

When you create a Record, the SHA-256 hash is calculated locally on your device. The original file is not sent to Provenia. Only the calculated hash and the declared metadata required for the Record are transmitted. You remain responsible for keeping the original files and exported Dossiers.

The Provenia Project and documentation flow
  1. Step 1

    Project

Give what you want to preserve or document its own documentary space. A project keeps related records together as one coherent history.

  2. Step 2

    Chronological Records

Each milestone brings together a description, context, metadata, a hash, and links to earlier work.

  3. Step 3

    Documentary Dossier

The documented path is organized as PDF and JSON for reading and technical verification.

  4. Outcome

    Documented evolution

An organized, preserved, and verifiable documentary history.

Evidence you can verify

File integrity

Each record identifies its file by hash, making it possible to confirm that the content matches exactly what was documented.

Independent temporal evidence

Records incorporate external temporal evidence that helps establish when each documentary milestone existed.

Verifiable Dossier

The complete history is assembled into a package that can be independently checked with Provenia’s public verifier.

Document new milestones whenever you need to

Every new account receives one free Project and three free Document Credits when the account is created. These starter credits are free and do not require a payment. Creating your first Project includes its first Record and uses one of these credits.

You can optionally purchase additional Document Credits later, when needed, separately from the free starter grant. Credits are purchased on a one-time basis. There is no monthly fee, subscription, or recurring charge. See pricing and credit details →
